    Three Types of Love

    Three Loves I saw a post the other day that got me thinking. This post was about the three loves a person has in the course of their life. And this post brought light to the topic of love. So, I thought I’d share my take on the topic. So, to start let me explain the three different types of loves. The first love is the love that most often happens when you are young and you don’t think of it as love and you grow apart or break ties over something silly, but when you get older and look back on it, you realize it was love. The second…

    Pictures = Memories

    Isn’t it funny how you see a picture and it brings back a flood of memories? Take for instance the picture above. It was taken in Payette, Idaho, at a park me and my brother spent endless hours at during our childhood. The same park is where my head start building was, where at the age of three I was enrolled in order to learn to speak. Up until then my older brother spoke for me so I didn’t need to do it. But some would say I haven’t shut up since which is okay with me. Because having a voice is the most important thing, I’ve learned from all…

    Don’t See Color?

    I’ve heard this phrase so much lately, “I don’t see color.” But isn’t that the problem! You need to see color in order to see what is going on is wrong! Police brutality against those of color is wrong, and to be honest if you don’t see color how can you honestly say you are against it or not? Just by reading the news you see the numbers are astounding when it comes to how many people are killed by the men and women that are there to protect us. It’s scary really! And you don’t see color?! To me that statement is like saying you are turning a blind…

    I Fear For My Family During These Times

    I’m married to a black man and I have black kids and every day I fear for their lives. Every day we hear another story of another black man being brutalized or murdered by a police officer. And every day I fear for my family. My son is sixteen and wears hoodies like Trayvon Martin. My husband is a hardworking, every day, normal black man who sometimes drives too fast, but is always the one at our store late at night. Both I worry about on a regular basis. I worry that my son will get accused of doing something he would never do because he matches a description of…

    Mom Guilt

    Lately I’ve been hearing a lot of ladies talk about mom guilt and some have asked me if I’ve ever experienced it. And here’s the truth, yes I have experienced mom guilt. But first, what is mom guilt? Mom guilt is feeling guilty for doing something or not doing something when it comes to your children. For example, being a working mom, leaving your child every day in the care of someone else while you work. Or not working and being home with your baby but feeling like he’s not getting the educational aspect or social interactions he’d be getting if he was at daycare. I’ve felt both! Every day…

    Missing Church

    We haven’t been to church in over eight weeks because our pastor called an audible before the virus got too bad. He pulled all the elders together and they decided it was best for our church family to not gather on Wednesdays to start then added in Sunday services to it. And then the governor put the order in place to not have any gatherings bigger than 250. And it didn’t bother me at first. Until it did. And today it hit me hard. I miss church. I miss coming together with likeminded people hearing God’s word. Hearing the message from our Pastor every Sunday. I miss taking my son…

    My Heart Hurts

    My heart is hurting. I cannot even begin to put into words how I’m feeling about this loss. I was excited, but now, I’m devastated. Friday we found out she was having a boy. By Sunday we had a name, Jayden. By Tuesday her water broke at 21 weeks. By Thursday he was born and died in a matter of seconds. A mother and father that was excited to meet their first baby is now a mother and father who are mourning the greatest loss no parents should ever have to experience. As for us, we have a loss for words. Conflicted feelings, but too ashamed to say them. We…

    How We Are Failing The Younger Generations

    Day after day I hear complaints from older generations that the new generation is disrespectful or just a waste of space and time. Well that may or may not be true, but let’s be honest, who’s fault is it? It’s ours! Because us, adults, failed the younger generation. We were responsible for making them into respectable human beings and we failed. Every day when we were trying to be their friends instead of their parents! That’s a fail! When we decided it was too much for their little hearts to lose in a game, so we always let them win or we didn’t keep score, but instead we gave them…

    Baby Fever Anyone?

    What is Baby Fever? By definition it is a “colloquial term for the intense desire to have a baby.” But what does that really mean? To parents it’s the fear of their young child wanting to become a parent at an early age. To women who want kids, it’s that time of their life that they feel this constant feeling in their gut that the time for getting pregnant is now. Some call this their “internal clock ticking.” But for others it may mean something completely different. I always heard elders saying “she’s going to get “baby fever” if she baby-sits a well-behaved child.” And I never got it, how…

    The Joys of a Teething Baby

    A teething baby is hard let’s get that out of the way first. But a teething baby that has their molars coming in earlier than normal, now that’s a freaking nightmare! Yup, you guessed it, that is what I’m dealing with on a daily basis right now. My son is only 16.5 months old. The dentist told us we had about 6 months before this would happen, but guess what! They were wrong!!!! All honesty I should have known, he’s done a lot of stuff early on. But I was hopeful! But now—now I have a cranky toddler who throws himself on the floor for no reason. One who won’t…
